PROFILE OF THE RURAL CLINICAL HEALTH SOLUTIONS

FOUNDATION  (RCHSF)

INTRODUCTION

Health as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) is not just the absence of disease but the state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing.

It is a fundamental right of any citizen and should be of paramount importance to any government.

Population continues to expand and put the health systems anywhere under increasing pressure. Funding for the health system is far below the WHO recommendation.

Health insurance is facing lots of challenges at the Federal level and is yet to be adopted by many States across the Federation.

Expenditure for health care is mostly out of pocket, and with the harsh economy, most citizens are unable to meet up with their health expenses. A lot patient with life threatening medical conditions are unable to access health care to manage their disease conditions.

Most health facilities especially at the primary and secondary levels are performing at abysmal levels and largely non-functional. There is decay in infrastructure, poor manpower and lack of adequate equipment, drugs and consumables.

Government alone cannot solve the ever growing challenges in the health sector. This makes it important that all stakeholders stand together to support whatever the government is doing in the sector. This is the role that RCHSF intends to play as an organization.
